Choosing an LLC formation service when you live outside the US

Last checked: October 2026

Most "best LLC service" lists are written for Americans. Abroad, different things matter: can they get your EIN without an SSN, will they help with Form 5472, and will they be honest about which banks accept people from your country?

What to check before you pay

  1. EIN filing for owners without an SSN or ITIN — included or extra?
  2. Form 5472 + pro forma 1120 preparation — offered, and at what yearly price?
  3. Registered agent — free first year? What is the renewal price?
  4. Banking partners — which ones currently accept residents of your country? Ask in writing.
  5. Total cost for year one and year two (renewals are where prices jump).

Our take

If you live outside the US, start with a service designed for foreign owners (doola or Firstbase) and compare their year-one and year-two totals including Form 5472 help. If you only need formation and a registered agent and will handle taxes with your own accountant, Northwest is a solid option. ZenBusiness is better suited to US-based founders.
